The mission of the UCSF Headache Center is to make the world a better place for people with headache disorders. We aspire to lead the way in research, and in clinical practice, to find the best treatments for migraine and other headache conditions. We treat patients and families with the upmost respect and compassion, with sensitivity to the diverse places and cultures from which our patients come.
The UCSF Headache Center is a specialty clinic within the department of Neurology. We were the first center of its kind on the West Coast. It is the destination of many patients in our local region but also worldwide who suffer from difficult to treat headache disorders. We see adults, adolescents, and children. We offer comprehensive assessment and treatment of headaches and facial pain of all types. We offer a wide range of treatments, including those on the cutting edge of modern advances. These include outpatient medication management, non-pharmacological treatment, botulinum toxin treatment, nerve blocks and muscle trigger point injections. We also offer short inpatient (hospital) stays, to intervene when outpatient therapy has not been successful.
